A Call for Unity at St. Matthew's Parish School Pacific Palisades

Our hearts are heavy this morning as we continue to witness the devastation of the California wildfires. Let’s pray for all of those that have been affected, and to keep our firefighters, our first responders and volunteers in our thoughts and prayers. Let’s say this prayer that KC shared with us, ‘God be with you (and also with you.) Keep watch dear Lord with those who work or watch or weep this night and give your angel charge over those who sleep, tend to sick Lord Christ, give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous and all for your love’s sake and collectively we say Amen.’

Whether you are a member of St. Matthew’s Parish, a neighbor, or were affected by the fires it is our responsibility to support one another during this challenging time. Moments of crisis like this serve as harsh reflection points, that expose our helplessness, and dependency on one another and highlight that our strength lies in our community and shared faith.

This moment of difficulty can bring unity, and whether you are or aren’t a religious person we can all take a moment and say that our hearts, minds, and prayers are with all of those who have lost homes, loved ones, their livelihoods and those afflicted in other ways.

As we witness the devastation caused by the Palisades Fire, let’s not lose hope but instead come together in faith and prayer. Whether you are near or far, your prayers and support can make a difference. Let us uplift the first responders, the firefighters, and all affected by this tragedy.
